I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles."- Audrey Hepburn

Fall is (almost) here!

I woke up this morning curled up under two layers of blankets, and did not want to get out of bed at all. This was one of those September mornings that I had to put on my leggings and the warm and comfy hoodie. Fall weather is here already. It just hit me that summer is really coming to the end.

Well, while I'm looking forward to layer up and embrace the fall with all my favorite boots and scarves, I still want to make the most out of summer before it disappears. Hence, here comes the check list

Take lots of photos of you and your friends enjoying the weather. Bonus points if you use an Instax or Polaroid camera!
Wear something totally inappropriate and go out dancing. Stay up ‘til dawn.
Make at least one new friend.
Lie in bed in the morning, with the windows open and good music playing loudly.
Flirt with someone of the same sex.
Take a dog for a walk (if you don’t have one, borrow someone else’s!).
 Go for an outdoor run
 Kiss someone new!
Choose a project to start working on over winter…
Get a deluxe spa pedicure. Try not to wriggle too much when they scrub your tootsies!
Do pilates outdoor on the grass
Throw a party in celebration of how goddamn fabulous you are.
Make a point of wearing all of your favourite summer dresses.
Stock up on jangly bracelets and unusual rings at a flea market.
Take some risks, and make a couple of choices which make you nervous.
Go for a bike ride with your best friend.
Rock a fabulous sun-hat while you still can.
Go bare-legged as often as possible!
 Sneak into a swimming pool.
Spend some quality alone time in saucy underwear.
 Go skinny-dipping with your BFF.
Make a commitment to wearing heels at least one day a week.
Lie around in the grass with your sunglasses and a pair of headphones on. Bliss.
Buy flowers and arrange them yourself.
 Swear off drama!
Make a mixtape which commemorates your summer.

This summer (to be cont.)

This summer, I want to wear short skirts and high heels, to pack a picnic basket and spend Sundays in the sun. I want to lie in the grass and take photos of the clouds. I want to wear bright nail polishes and excessive amount of jewerly. I want to read novels, dance in public, and carry my camera everywhere.
I want to celebrate Midsummer in a park. I want to grow flowers and herbs and keep freshly-made iced tea in the fridge. I want to make avocado smoothies and get a tan. I want to play in the surf, have salt-kissed hair, and wear sunglasses all the time.
I want to move into a new apartment with big windows. I want to light candles, get intoxicated with the smell and with a bottle of wine. I want to listen to songs that give me goosebumps all over my entire body. I want to work my way through a huge stack of books, sleep deeply, and write down my dreams …

19 Things You Should Do Before The Summer Is Over

19 Things You Should Do Before The Summer Is Over

Jul. 17, 2012
1. Go to the beach, duh!
Beaches and summer go together like fashion and anorexia; you really can’t have one without the other. Spend a day frolicking in the ocean and laying in the sand with a mindless book. (I suggest Most Talkative, Andy Cohen’s light and ultimately forgettable memoir, if only for the embarrassing “I’m gay in the 80s!” photos.) Let the sun delete five years off of your life and leave feeling like a baked clam who just took five muscle relaxers.

2. Get day drunk with your friends on a lazy Sunday.
Drink sangria like it’s water and then go shopping. Purchase the most random crap ever before passing out on your couch at 5 p.m. Wake up and wonder why you purchased a 20 dollar wooden spoon at Crate and Barrel.

3. Go to a concert.
I know, I know, concerts in the summertime can be a complete clusterf-ck that’ll have you running for your anti-anxiety meds but on a rare occasion, they can actually be quite delightful. I recommend attending Bumbershoot in Seattle because it’s exciting without being TOO overwhelming. Plus, the weather in Seattle is amazing only in August and September.

4. Go see The Dark Knight Rises
...  because it is seriously the only movie event of the summer that matters! Christopher Nolan has that rare talent of making a summer blockbuster popcorn flick that doesn’t feel as shallow as a kiddie pool. Plus, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman looks intriguing…

5. Call in sick to work
... to go to the park all day by yourself and read magazines and listen to music. Maybe go stoned if you’re worried about being bored.

6. Break up with your boyfriend or girlfriend because being single in the summer is ACTUALLY fun. You can come crawling back to them when it’s cardigan weather again and just explain to them, “Sorry, babe. I just needed to be in a committed relationship with summer. You understand, right?”

7. Listen to as much top 40 pop songs as humanly possible. Maybe even reunite with Ashanti and The Murder Inc. era.

8. Hang out on someone’s rooftop till the sun rises.

9. Go swimming in a pool!
Seriously, go find someone who has a pool and offer them your money and friendship in exchange for a full day of lounging and swimming. (Sidenote: I’m so obsessed with swimming pools that I once snuck into my ex-boyfriend’s apartment complex to use his pool. TALK ABOUT DESPERATE.)

10. Go out of town.
August is the only month out of the year where it’s socially acceptable to tell your work that you’re going to be off on vacay for a minute so take advantage. If an actual trip is out of the question, go away on the weekends and mooch off of someone’s “summer home.” Whatever you do, just get away!

11. Throw a BBQ

for all of your friends, or if you can’t cook/have a grill, make someone else do it.

12. Find out where the nearest county fair is and go to it wasted, eat funnel cake, and ride the rollercoasters. See a kitschy band like Foreigner because chances are, they will be performing at every county fair this summer.

13. Go on an internet hiatus. The internet is so boring in the summertime. Real life is exponentially better.

14. Tell your crush that you like them because they’re more likely to like you back in the summer than in the fall. There’s like scientific proof.

15. Go to a free event. There is so much free stuff to do in the summer. Winter = we’re annoyed that it’s cold out so we’re going to charge for everything. Summer = OMG, we’re so laidback! Come hang at our cool event for free!

16. Go home to visit your parents for Labor Day. Or not. If you hate your parents, save your money and don’t do it.

17. Make a conscious effort to be happy. After all, you can always be miserable in the winter!

18. Have one insane night of debauchery.
Not The Hangover status. More like Marie Antoinette “I’m hanging out in a mansion, drinking champagne, and doing bumps of 18th century coke.”

19. Eat healthy. Salads only taste good in 95-degree heat so you might as well eat them now before you start craving comfort food again. TC Mark

Hello December :)

    [Inspired by Galadarling]
    December 1st

Put up your tree, or some Christmas decoration & consider doing things a little differently this year! It's a tradition in our family for all of us to decorate the tree together.
One year my mother bought this magnificent black tree, & usually decks it out with white feathers, silver mirrored disco balls, crystals &other marvellous things. She’s using the same tree this year, but it’s accented with red.Red roses, red birds, red berries & strings of pearls. EPIC!
This year, we decide to do something different. We hung up a GIANT red star with colorful lights, and streams, wreaths and lights everywhere else. Our house looks like it's on fire, but hey, there's no one around, gotta lighten up things ;)

I love Christmas decorating and I usually do this with my roommate Diamonique every year. We would listen to Alvin & the Chipmunks (and annoy the heck out our hallmates) and cover the doors with wrapping papers, hang up lights, draw/make decorations together. I miss her this year.

So please, make sure to decorate your tree while listening to something appropriately Christmas-y (if not Alvin and the Chipmunks), like A Very She & Him ChristmasSufjan Stevens Presents Songs for ChristmasDavid Ian: Vintage ChristmasHipster’s Holiday: Vocal Jazz and R&B Classics, or these MP3s!

    December 2nd

Get yourself — & whoever you live with — some rad Christmas items that you can wear around the house!
I'm not a big fan of bright colors, but I start wearing red a lot when it's Christmas time, and furry stuff ;)
This year, I put red and green collars on my new puppies, and add jingle bells on them too. Whenever they run, it's hilarious!
Plus, it’s important to have something sweet to wear while you unwrap your presents on Christmas morning… Don’t you think?!

    December 3rd

Get started on your Christmas cards! Make it your mission to find great notepaper or stationery for writing them. It doesn’t have to have a reindeer on it or anything like that; something simple & chic will do the trick! I always have purple cards, because it's me!

This year I get the chance to experience going shopping for Christmas card at the central of the city, close to Duc Ba Cathedral again. Reminded me of all those middle school and high school years when tons of us would fight over a good and cheap Christmas card, and laugh when we gave out the same card to each other. Handing out cards and gifts during school was such a blast.

I think Christmas is a wonderful time to remember everyone who has been a special part of your year. Start writing your notes to them now. Even a couple of lines thanking them for being in your life will mean so much, & be so appreciated! Post them out as soon as you can, or if you don’t think they’ll get there in time, scan & email them!

    December 4th

Help someone else. December can be a month of joy, but it can also be a time of enormous sadness for people who are less fortunate than us. We’re always able to help others, but somehow it seems easier in December, so start today & see if you can carry the momentum through into the new year!

Have a look around your house, & gather up any clothes, toys or household items you don’t need. Then take them to a women’s shelter or an organisation that helps people. As you look around, remember that coats, blankets, & other warm things are especially important when the temperature drops, & most of us have at least one of these that we could spare without too much trouble.

We don't have such cold weather in Vietnam but it's still worth giving away something. Everyone deserves gifts during this time of the year.

    December 5th

Decide to do Twelve Dates of Christmas! Yep! The idea is that you & your beloved make time for 12 dates over the month of December. They can be as silly or as elaborate as you like. Maybe some of them can be items from this activity guide, too!

If you're single, try these out with your gay friend or your best girlfriends. They would still be as much fun, I promise. Just be creative ;)

If you need extra inspiration, Marci catalogued all her dates here! I love this idea so much!

    December 6th

Make paper snowflakes! It is definitely NOT snowing where I am, but snowflakes are a truly fabulous symbol of winter & all things magical. With this in mind, why not sit down tonight with some paper, some scissors, some glue & a whole lot of glitter, & make paper snowflakes?! If you’re feeling really crafty, you can put them on a string & hang them all around the house, which I did <3

    December 7th

Have your photo taken in front of a display window!
It's a fabulous time when all the shops have a "silent competition" on who has the best display window. AND, who cares about what people think, it is just fun to take pictures in front of those Chanel snow balls or Dior Rudolph or doing some silly mannequin poses.
Gotta spice up your shopping time ;)

    December 8th

Bake cookies! Or truffles. Or anything.
Christmas just isn’t Christmas without the scent of sugary evil wafting through the house. Christmas is the perfect excuse for me to go crazy. Being home kinds of stop me from making too much sweets since my family doesn't like sweets, but truffles are my favorite things. They make me happy, and people around me, too.

I’d be pretty happy to have any of those in my kitchen, wouldn’t you?! Make a shopping list & then get cracking!

    December 9th

    Go ice-skating!
I can't in Vietnam, but it's a fun thing to put on the list.

    December 10th

Eat an entire box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates! Or Godiva's.
This one doesn’t need much explanation, surely… Pure indulgence!

    December 11th

Go out with your favourite person & drink hot chocolate. If you ask me, there are few things better than spending time with someone who you think is sublime. Add hot chocolate to that combination & you have a recipe for massive success!

Make it your mission to scout out the very, very best hot chocolate in your area, & then make a date. If your search comes up a bit flat, though, don’t despair! MarieBelle Aztec Hot Chocolate comes in a tin, & is one of the BEST EVER hot chocolate experiences. (It’s basically just melted chocolate in a cup. Incroyable!)

    December 12th

    Make a Christmas wish list!
Who doesn't want a wish list for Christmas?

    December 13th

Carry chocolate coins in your purse & give them to people who make you smile!
You can substitute with candy canes, if you prefer! Who knows me know that I always stock up sugar canes (even 3 months after Christmas, especially the colorful and yummy flavor ones because I hate mint, lol. I got Life Savers and Dum Dum flavors last year :)

Um… This is also good if you’re exhausted while out shopping for gifts & need a sugary pick-me-up!

    December 14th

Make a gingerbread house! If you’re feeling really ambitious, you can make your own from scratch (quite the undertaking!)

    December 15th

Give yourself a festive manicure! The time is nigh! If you’re not sure what to do, how about red nails with a “snowy” white tip? You could paint snowflakes or gifts on your thumb, or just go for red & white stripes. If you’re good with a nail-art pen, you could even try drawing Rudolph! Oh my! I did an entire snowy scene with snowman one year. When I get lazy, I do candy canes pattern because it is super easy and still looks cute.

I'm going to try something super crazy this year.

    December 16th

Plan a little holiday soiree! It doesn’t have to be anything dramatic — maybe you all make & decorate ornaments for one another’s Christmas trees, perhaps you bake cookies, or maybe you drink so many “festive” cocktails that you break into a karaoke version of Don’t Stop Believin’ that shatters some kind of world record. Either way, you can NEVER have too many parties in December! I'm thinking about a barbeque by the riverside this year. Spending time with friends are fun.

    December 17th

Wrap all your gifts! I always think it’s nicer to do it at home, rather than having a shop assistant do it for you. You can buy the most amazing holographic paper, crazy springy bows & lovely bits & bobs to put on the top of a parcel if you know where to shop.

Additionally, Matchbook magazine’s December issue has a fantastic wrapping guide starting on page 52! (I love the idea of using newspaper & fancy baubles, or bells or doilies.)
Wrapping is an art-form which requires plenty of practice, so if your first attempts aren’t too gorgeous, don’t worry about it. Making the effort will make people smile either way!

    December 18th

Take a family portrait! ...Even if your “family” just consists of you & your dog, or you & your best friend, it doesn’t matter. Ask someone to take your picture, or throw your camera on a tripod & use the self-timer function! Sometimes during the holidays, it can get so crazy that we forget to take photos to preserve the moments (& hold onto the memories!). I rarely home for Christmas and my sister is getting married soon, who knows when will be the next time we'll all be together again during Christmas.

    December 19th

Watch Winter Fashion Shows, to make you feel all pretty and beautiful. A girl deserves to feel like she's on top of the world, or to dream being so.

    December 20th

Walk or drive all around your city to see the best Christmas lights! Even the Grinchiest anti-Christmas party-pooper can’t help but smile at the sight of hundreds of Christmas lights. There’s just something beautiful & magical about them which makes us all feel young again. Even if there aren’t many crazy, decked-out houses to be seen in your area, make a pilgrimage to your city’s oversized Christmas tree. Bask in the glow & soak up the atmosphere! AND TAKE PICTURES. I love love love being on the motorcycle in vietnam in these occasion. Very special feeling.

    December 21st

Go all out with your Christmas-themed dressing! Yes! Sweaters? Bust ‘em out! Christmas-themed earrings? Put ‘em on! Anything with a bow on, that makes you look like a present? What are you waiting for?! I’d also recommend dressing up any small animals or children you can find, too! I think Dolly would make a great elf! Who cares, just do things that make you happy. I love love love accessories, so I always pile up on that.

    December 22nd

Get mistletoe-happy! I’ve never bought mistletoe. In fact, I don’t even think I’ve everSEEN mistletoe in person! To me, a non-American, it has always just seemed like something from movies! But today is the day — I have officially decided — to buy & hang mistletoe. Then get to smoochin’! (Of course!)

    December 23rd

Go out & look at all the Christmas windows. There’s something so lovely about them! They’re so much more special than usual, & the creativity is magnificent. You’ll see animatronic creatures, constantly falling snow & beautiful scenes. There is such an art to window-dressing, & Christmas is when you get to see the best of the best. Have a wander & get inspired!

    December 24th

Dress up and go to midnight mass! Oh, & get ready for Santa, of course!

    December 25th

Make your own new tradition today. Maybe that tradition is falling asleep after lunch, or snuggling up together to watch a favourite movie after you’ve unwrapped your gifts. Maybe it’s inviting over all your friends who don’t have family in town this year. Whatever it is, make it something that makes you truly, truly happy.

Things I forget to tell you.

1. My career comes first. I will do everything to get into med school. Even if it means giving you up.
2. But then again, I don't want to lose you, at this moment.
3. I want you to be happy. Comfortable with me. Honest with me. Tell me everything that bugs you, even if it is about me.
4. I much rather have a Jim Sturgess, Michael Gurfi, or Georgy Clooney. But you’re not too bad yourself :)
5. I'm scared to death with commitment. I will never cheat on you and stuff like that. But deep down inside, I'm still a crazy singleton.
6. The only time I ever lied to you these past 3 months was when I said first thing I would do when I get to NYC is to hang out with my friends. Actually, if I arrive in the US, the first person I want to see is you and the first thing I want to do is to spend some quality time with you.
7. Please, tell me when I start talking or rambling too much. That’s only because I want to tell you everything that goes on with me.
8. You are the first guy I'm this involved with.
9. I rejected dozens of invites to watch that movie, because I only like to watch it with you.
10. I hate hate hate awkwardness.
11. I'm supposed to be doing my homework right now. Not writing this note for you.
12. I wouldn’t do anything to hurt you, even if I say “I will kick you” all the time.
13. I want you to do what you want to do, not for me. For yourself. Just like I'd do the same.
14. This relationship isn't going to be as smoothly as you think. I'm the worst girlfriend anyone can have, but I'll learn.
15. I may want to date other guys, eventually. But let’s not talk about this for now.
16. If you ever think something is wrong with me, and don't feel comfortable asking me, just get me drunk, actually, tipsy. Don’t get me drunk, it will get physical, lol.
17. I can't do long-distance relationships. It’s killing me. But there is always a thing called trying.
18. When I'm angry, it is school, stress or alcohol talking. Don’t make me upset you, or don’t upset me. Just don’t give up ;)
19. I’m tired of phone calls, text messages, gchat, facebook, stuff like that. I just don't like seeing your face and hearing your voice on the other side of the screen / phone. I’d rather be next to you.
20. I don't do anniversaries. I will remember the date, but I won’t do anything about it.
21. I have a surprise for you. You’ll have to wait until your birthday to find out
22. My favorite thing about you is your goofy smile when you dance.
23. I don’t like PDA because it's sexier when no one is watching us.
24. I don't mind friends knowing about us.
25. Remember our priorities. Everyone and everything else first. Then us.
26. I will write things like this and post them on my blog, whether you like it or not. It’s my blog, I will do whatever the hell I want with it.
27. If I'm angry at you, don't worry. I WILL tell you. The good thing is that I can never be angry with you that often.
28. We can compromise. I'm not expecting much from this relationship, but you have to be honest with me.
29. I don't know how long this relationship will last.

30. I'm scared to hell right now because ...

100 things to do when you're feeling down (or you're just really bored)

Here are some ideas to help kick a rotten day to kingdom come…
  •  Do something good for someone else, even though you may not want to. Do a favour, help them find something, give them an item which will help them in some way. Start the flow of positive energy.
  • Eat the best chocolate you can get your hands on. In bed. Or in the bath.
  • Turn up music you really love. Play it so loudly that it soaks in through your skin. Dance in your pyjamas. Feel the pain lift.
  • Have a romance in your head.
  • Volunteer.
  • Buy a remote control for your camera & dip your toes into the pool of narcissism.
  • Call a friend & ask them if they want to have a slumber party.
  • Throw yourself head-first into a creative project. Something that you’re excited about but which feels a little too big for you. You’ll be so consumed by it that it will fuel you for ages.
  • Do the splits. Or at least try. (Be gentle though!)
  • Sing. Loudly. Badly. Off-key. Whatever you like. It works. The last time I was on my way somewhere really nerve-wracking, I was in a cab. The radio was playing & I was so anxious that the only way I could distract myself was by singing along. Loudly. The driver probably thought I was a total nut but I didn’t care & it did the trick!
  • Cover your entire body in cocoa butter & fall asleep.
  • Drink 2 litres of fizzy drink (pop, soda, you know) & stay up until sunrise.
  • Write a list of things that you appreciate right now, in the present moment. Focus on each of them & let the love inside you well up. Even when things appear to be going really, really badly, there are always things to be happy about. (That’s one of the reasons why we do Things I Love Thursday — to help bring your attention back to the positive.)
  • Indulge in your “guilty pleasures”, whatever they are. (Old episodes of America’s Next Top Model, ginger ale, chocolate cake, romantic comedies, etc.) --> Sex and the City for me
  • Send a text message to one of the most interesting people you know — maybe someone you don’t know that well, just to say hello.
  • Order delivery food, just to bask in the glory of the fact that if you pay people, they will come to your door. With food. Warm, good food. What an age we live in, huh?
  • Look through old photos. With a friend if possible. If it’s an old friend, you can reminisce (“Oh my god, do you remember when we did that?!”), & if it’s a new friend, you can tell grand stories (“Well, let me tell you about this guy…”)
  • Listen to old Motown hits. Come up with dance moves. Wear something sparkly & work it out. (DJ Z-Trip’s Motown Breakdown is an excellent time, too.)
  • Write a gruellingly personal entry for your blog dissecting every aspect of the situation which has upset you so much. Post it, don’t post it, whatever, just get it out of your system.
  • Plan a holiday.
  • Write a ridiculous online dating profile & marvel at the people who come out of the woodwork. (“Oh, a threesome with you & your wife in New Jersey? Sign me up!”)
  • Spend an hour in your variety store of choice, set yourself a budget ($20?) & buy some junk. Lip treatments, candy, maybe an exfoliating scrub… Then go home & play with your new purchases. There’s a reason it’s called retail therapy, you know (though of course, it doesn’t last).
  • Wear a fake moustache all day.
  • Think up nicknames for all your friends, then send them each postcards to alert them.
  • Think back on the last really good sex you had. Think about it for an hour. Then do something else.
  • Go out for a milkshake.
  • Appreciate the dinosaur bones at your favourite museum.
  • Grab a friend, dress up like tourists & go & do all the really schlocky things on offer in your city. Take LOTS of photos, & be sure to flash the peace sign in 70% of them.
  • Stick little crystals on something you use every day. (Wallet, light-switch, key-ring, boots?)
  • Buy a new pair of sunglasses or non-prescription frames. It’s a super-easy (& often relatively cheap) way to evolve your look. Plus sunglasses make for excellent on-the-fly disguises.
  • Go to a yoga class. Surrender & breathe deep.
  • Put on your favourite pair of high heels & walk up & down your bedroom/hallway doing your best Miss J impersonation. Have a friend or neighbour who is willing to humour you offer critique. “Girl, you walk like a busted-down freight-train.”
  • Write multiple lists of everything you want. Material possessions, relationships, work, lifestyle, everything. Pin them up by your door so you see them all the time.
  • Go through Urban Dictionary & find some fun/ridiculous new words to add to your vocabulary.
  • Make yourself the biggest ice-cream sundae you’ve ever seen. Decorate it with hot fudge sauce, whipped cream, sprinkles, nonpareils, whatever you like. Take a photo. Give it a name (“Jane’s Orgasmatron Cardiac Arrest Sundae”). Devour. Maybe without using your hands. Take a photo of that too.
  • Get your eyebrows shaped.
  • Spend an hour in a department store sniffing perfume samples. When you find something you like, spray it on a card & drop it in your purse.
  • Try break-dancing.
  • Watch videos of flamboyant, successful people like Elton John or Michael Jackson & marvel.
  • Eat animal crackers.
  • Drink through a straw all day. If you get your hands on a straw which matches your outfit, so much the better.
  • Plan a party with a theme that makes you feel really, really happy.
  • Write a letter to yourself in the future. Then hide it. Maybe in the pocket of a coat you never, ever wear.
  • Leave the house wearing just fabulous lingerie underneath a coat. With heels. (Note: if you are a man you may get accused of being a flasher if you do this. The world is cruel sometimes.)
  • Pull a Kid CuDi & announce your retirement from the world of something. Like cooking, or vocal communication. Announce your unretirement whenever you feel like it.
  • Buy a harmonica & annoy the hell out of everyone while you learn how to play it.
  • Go wig shopping.
  • Choose a festival to go to, invite some friends, & start making plans.
  • Add diamantes to your manicure.
  • Hula hoop.
  • Buy some really good art for your walls. Posters, prints, original artwork or other. If you’re feeling impoverished, go to the library, check out some art books, then take huge, great quality photocopies at a copy shop.
  • Listen to Never Better by P.O.S. from start to finish & revel in what a great album it really is.
  • Load up your ipod & go for a walk through your favourite park.
  • Visit a cool toy store & make your friend a surprise package.
  • Reach out to the people who inspire you but who don’t know you exist.
  • Write the birthdays of your personal heroes in your planner & work out a way to honour them on that day.
  • Pie.
  • Color your hair. (You can always dye it back.)
  • Notice where you hold tension in your body & let it go.
  • Visit some kind of religious institution & observe a service.
  • Bake heart- or bunny-shaped cookies. Give them away.
  • Be graceful.
  • Be graceless
  • Make a video diary.
  • Answer questions with questions.
  • Try on a pair of really, really expensive shoes & act like you’ll be back tomorrow, but you’re just going to go home & think about it. (Bonus points: take a photo of you in them. Often you will need to be stealthy about this but it’s worth doing.)
  • Record yourself trying to recite the alphabet while vigorously brushing your teeth.
  • Flirt with entirely inappropriate people.
  • Sing into your friend’s answering machine.
  • Pour pancakes in the shape of your initials. Eat them while watching dance competition on television.
  • Make friends with your neighbours.
  • Think about how great it would be to name a shaggy dog “Toupee”.
  • Go to an audition just for the experience.
  • Tell someone cute, “You’re cute”.
  • Sit in a sauna with a stack of fashion magazines & sweat it out.
  • Find a secret place with a great view. Like a tree, or a rooftop, or a hill.
  • Go & see a musical (or just rent one).
  • Be optimistic.
  • Buy ridiculous slippers.
  • Make a list of the things you want to do to celebrate the upcoming season.
  • Lie down in the sunshine.
  • Pretend to be a dancer in a music video as you perform mundane tasks. Jiggle your way from the bathroom to the kitchen, shake it while you wait for your toast to pop, booty bump while you pick an outfit.
  • Go to an aquarium & take photos of the jellyfish.
  • Watch movies you used to love as a child.
  • Book a karaoke room with friends & sing your heart out.
  • Make a list of practical, actionable ways you can improve your situation.
  • Start keeping a dream journal & write down their supposed meanings, too.
  • See if you can develop an appreciation for a band or a style of music you’ve never liked before.
  • Write a play.
  • Go to vintage stores looking for fabulous old typewriters.
  • Write the stuff you like about your body on your body with a marker.
  • Change your ring-tone to the sound of one of your friends laughing hysterically.
  • Watch videos of Robin Williams or Eddie Murphy.
  • Listen to Divine Harvest by The Mae Shi. Don’t be worried, everything will turn out fine. Don’t be worried, friend just put your hand in mine.
  • Take a nap with your head at the other end of the bed.
  • Walk around a garden centre & buy a colourful plant. Give it a name.
  • Go somewhere that people walk their dogs & make friends with some fluffy creatures.
  • Hug your friends.
  • Tell someone everything.
  • Believe that everything is always getting better.
